UnitedHealthcare® Renews Agreement with KCI for Negative Pressure Wound Therapy
SAN ANTONIO - One of the nation’s largest health insurers has executed an agreement for KCI’s iON PROGRESS™ Remote Therapy Monitoring program with the goal of improving outcomes and lowering costs by improving compliance with prescribed therapy. This program remotely transmits therapy usage data from a cellular-enabled ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy System directly to KCI's iOn PROGRESS™ Care Network. A team of Virtual Therapy Specialists analyze the data for events that indicate that V.A.C.® Therapy is not consistently being applied. KCI’s Virtual Therapy Specialists engage with patients, when necessary, to educate, coach, collaborate with caregivers, and provide support of V.A.C.® Therapy to help patients get back to their life as usual.
On Oct. 1, 2019, UnitedHealthcare® and KCI expanded their relationship to include access to KCI’s iON PROGRESS™ Care Network, composed of remote monitored negative pressure wound therapy devices and patient support services, for most UnitedHealthcare commercial, UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage, and UnitedHealthcare Community Plan members.
UnitedHealthcare members who meet the medical criteria for negative pressure wound therapy and have services provided by KCI will have a dedicated virtual therapy specialist from KCI assigned to monitor therapy adherence as a clinically trained wound care resource and an expert in V.A.C.® Therapy for the duration of their KCI order. One-on-one training sessions with wound care clinicians and a 24/7 help line are available to individuals with questions about their device.
NOTE: Specific indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions and safety information exist for KCI products and therapies. Please consult a clinician and product instructions for use prior to application. Rx only.
