Acelity Advances Platform to Foster Innovation in Wound Care
“North America Make Better Summit”unites healthcare innovators from the United States and Canada in order to deliver better outcomes
SAN ANTONIO, September 10, 2015 – Acelity, a global wound care and regenerative medicine company, will host its first “North America Make Better Summit,” a scientific, clinical and business forum for healthcare innovators, from Sept. 10-12, 2015, in Chicago. The Summit is the third in a series of global educational events in which stakeholders focused on the care and outcome of patients living with wounds are invited to participate in peer-to-peer exchange about the trends in the healthcare system, latest innovations in the management of surgical and non-surgical wounds, advanced surgical procedures and the health economic impact of innovative approaches.

“These summits are intended to provide cross-disciplinary exchange and networking opportunities among clinical peers, administrators and payers,” said Ron Silverman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Acelity. “As an industry leader in wound care and regenerative medicine, we are uniquely positioned to bring together seasoned experts to share best practices and debate important issues in the course of restoring patient’s lives. We view this interaction as essential to our collective role in advancing patient care in today’s healthcare environment.”

The “North America Make Better Summit” will explore current trends in the medical environment in North America, including the United States healthcare system, the impact of healthcare reform, and recent innovations in the management of surgical and non-surgical wounds, such as instillation therapy and epidermal grafting. The Summit will also enable healthcare professionals to learn about new technologies via state-of-the-art lectures and hands-on educational sessions.

"There has not likely been a time of greater dynamism in healthcare delivery in North America, most specifically in the U.S.,” said Subhas Gupta, MD, PhD, FRCSC, FACS, Department of Plastic Surgery, Loma Linda University School of Medicine. “The ‘Make Better Summit' is invaluable to physicians and healthcare leaders who must stay ahead of the tide of change sweeping across medicine today. Attendees shall benefit from the experience, knowledge and frank discourse from the faculty."

The first two Make Better Summits were held in Rome, Italy, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Following the North America Make Better Summit, Acelity will host the fourth Summit of the series in Madrid, Spain, in October 2015.
