Looking Back on the KCI 2019 San Antonio Summer Internship Program
KCI Summer Interns 2019

SAN ANTONIO, September 20, 2019 – Yet another successful 2019 San Antonio Summer Internship Program has come to an end. Our internship program aims to provide interns with the necessary resources, training and guidance to help ensure success at the beginning of their careers. In May, we welcomed more than 40 interns across 12 departments at our San Antonio offices and since then have seen an overwhelming amount of hard work and dedication.

Our interns worked across a variety of departments and supported and implemented a number of diverse projects that have been crucial to KCI. From accounting and finance to medical education and marketing, the interns gained valuable insights and demonstrated enormous value in their respective focus areas. They supported our teams across various functions, from analyzing data for research and development, to performing statistical product evaluations for quality assurance. Our information technology and information security interns implemented PMO tools and project data, while our sourcing and contracting interns focused on contract negotiations. No matter the function, the interns made significant contributions to the KCI team, while also hopefully learning practical information about their selected fields.

“My internship was amazing. Everyone was so friendly and always willing to help. I’m glad I finally got the opportunity to apply some of what I’ve learned in school, and that I’ve gotten the chance to learn so many new things,” said Jessica Vasquez, tax intern, KCI.

“My experience with KCI was tremendously eye-opening and I learned new things every day,” said Alex Valdez, product marketing intern, KCI. “It was very encouraging to be surrounded by people who are clearly passionate about their work and who looked to support me in my professional growth.”

“At KCI, we see internships as an exceptional way to give young professionals the resources, guidance, and support they need to begin their career,” said Lisa Shumpert, Vice President, Human Resources, KCI. “We take pride in our core values, and love that our internship allows interns to master the art of Integrity and A Will to Win while they are with us. These young professionals should be extremely proud of their hard work this summer, and we can only hope for the same enthusiasm and tenacity in summers to come.”

All of these valuable contributions made for a stronger summer at KCI. We were honored to have this wonderful group of interns be part of the KCI family this summer and wish them the best of luck as they embark on a new school year and beyond.
