SENSAT.R.A.C.™ Technology with EASYCLEAR PURGE™ Technology

Only V.A.C.® Therapy provides patented SENSAT.R.A.C.™ Technology, a real-time pressure feedback system that adjusts pump output, compensating for wound distance, wound position, exudates characteristics, and patient movement

V.A.C.ULTA™ Therapy System with V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy

The V.A.C. VERAFLO CLEANSE CHOICE™ Dressing, when used with V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy, can be used to initiate immediate wound cleansing therapy. The dressing’s unique three-layer design facilitates removal of thick exudate material, such as fibrin, thick wet exudate, and other infectious material, to provide a wound cleansing option for clinicians when surgical debridement must be delayed or is not possible or appropriate.

Easy application with flexibility Ideal for dirty wounds needing immediate wound cleansing.

How it Works

  • OVERVIEW
  • SPECIFICATIONS

   V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy

V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy combines the benefits of V.A.C.® Therapy with automated topical wound solution distribution and removal.

V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy can help:

  • Cleanse the wound with the instillation of topical wound cleansers
  • Treat the wound with the instillation of topical antimicrobial and antiseptic wound solutions
  • Heal the wound and prepare for closure

V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy is for wounds that would benefit from instillation therapy, such as:
  • Contaminated wounds with instillation of topical wound cleansers and
  • Infected wounds with instillation of appropriate topical wound solutions and in conjunction with appropriate good clinical practice such as debridement and antibiotic therapy

These wounds also benefit from the removal of infectious materials in the V.A.C.® Therapy cycle.

V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy provides:

  • Volumetric delivery
  • Fill Assist to help determine the correct instill volume
  • Dressing Soak to instill topical wound solutions into the wound for easier dressing removal and increased patient comfort

V.A.C.® Therapy is designed to help provide optimal wound healing

The mechanisms of action for V.A.C.® Therapy include drawing wound edges together, removing infectious materials and wound fluids, promoting perfusion, maintaining a closed, moist wound healing environment and granulation tissue formation.

The integrated V.A.C.® Therapy System has a unique mechanism of action whereby the delivery of negative pressure through the V.A.C.® Therapy units using proprietary V.A.C.® GRANUFOAM™ Dressings, provides a wound environment that promotes healing.

How V.A.C.® Therapy promotes wound healing
Under negative pressure, V.A.C.® Therapy with proprietary V.A.C.®GRANUFOAM™ Dressings applies mechanical forces to the wound to create an environment that promotes wound healing. These forces are known as macrostrain and microstrain.1

Macrostrain is the visible stretch that occurs when negative pressure contracts the foam.

  • Draws wound edges together
  • Provides direct and complete wound bed contact
  • Removes exudate and infectious materials
  • Reduces edema
  • Promotes perfusion

Microstrain is the microdeformation at the cellular level, which leads to cell stretch. Cells stretch has been shown to facilitate cell migration and proliferation that leads to granulation tissue formation.

Indications & Applications

  • INDICATIONS
Instructions for Use:

Specific indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions and safety information exist for KCI products and therapies. Healthcare providers should review the product User Manual, Safety Information and/or Product Instructions for Use.

The V.A.C.ULTA™ Therapy System is an integrated wound management system that provides Negative Pressure Wound Therapy with an instillation option.

Negative Pressure Wound Therapy in the absence of instillation is intended to create an environment that promotes wound healing by secondary or tertiary (delayed primary) intention by preparing the wound bed for closure, reducing edema, promoting granulation tissue formation and perfusion, and by removing exudate and infectious material. The instillation option is indicated for patients who would benefit from vacuum assisted drainage and controlled delivery of topical wound solutions and suspensions over the wound bed.

The V.A.C.ULTA Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System, with and without instillation, is indicated for patients with chronic, acute, traumatic, sub-acute and dehisced wounds, partial-thickness burns, ulcers (such as diabetic, pressure and venous insufficiency), flaps and grafts.

Evidence & Outcomes

V.A.C.® Therapy has the largest body of evidence to date including over 1,000 peer reviewed articles, 45 of which are randomized controlled trials (RCTs). These studies have demonstrated positive clinical outcomes of NPWT, as well as the effectiveness of V.A.C.® Therapy in diabetic foot wounds, chronic wounds (e.g., pressure ulcers and lower extremity ulcers), and a variety of acute wounds.

There are also recent publications specific to V.A.C. VERAFLO™ Therapy; some of these studies are listed below.
