iOn PROGRESS Remote Therapy Monitoring Delivers At-Home Monitoring Services.

Behind every wound is a person trying to find their normal again. The iOn PROGRESS™ Remote Therapy Monitoring System remotely transmits usage data from a cellular-enabled ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy System directly to KCI's iOn PROGRESS™ Care Network to shed light on the nonclinical elements that might inhibit at-home adherence to prescribed negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT).

The iOn PROGRESS™ Care Network engages with patients, where necessary, with education, coaching, collaboration with caregivers, and support from KCI to help patients get back to their life as usual.

Overview

Your ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy System with iOn PROGRESS™ Remote Therapy Monitoring:

  • Monitors patients' NPWT adherence in their homes using a cellular-enabled module attached ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy System

  • Securely transmits data related to the unit and usage directly to KCI

  • Data is reviewed by our team of Virtual Therapy Specialists at the iOn PROGRESS™ Care Network

  • Specialists engage patients, gaining greater insight into their needs, goals and challenges

How it Works

About

The Proven Power of ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy, Now with a Built-In Support Network

Patient Enrollment

  1. 1. Patients prescribed ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy at home are deemed eligible by their insurance provider

2. At the start of therapy, the patient is assigned a Virtual Therapy Specialist (VTS) to monitor therapy adherence as a clinically trained wound care resource and an expert in V.A.C.® Therapy

3. The VTS initiates the program by conducting a welcome call with the patient to enroll him or her in the program

4. A patient will work with the same VTS throughout his or her use of NPWT

Monitoring & Engagement

1. Once therapy begins, data about device usage is transmitted from the ACTIV.A.C.™ Therapy System to the VTS through a HIPAA-compliant secure connection

2. If the VTS notices irregularities or lapses in device usage, he or she can call the patient to determine what challenges are prohibiting proper therapy adherence

3. The VTS attempts to understand the root causes, provide troubleshooting, help, edcuation coaching or other communication to get the patient back on track

4. Throughout therapy, the VTS remains an active resource helping the patient take control of his or her healing journey

Escalation

In the event a problem cannot be solved with a patient directly, the VTS will escalate to the patient's primary clinical provider. While insight and advice may be provided by the VTS, any decision regarding patient care is redirected by the clinician.

Indications for Use

Specific indications, contraindications, warnings, precautions and safety information exist for KCI products and therapies. Healthcare providers should review the product User Manual, Safety Information and/or Instructions for Use prior to application.

The V.A.C.® Therapy System is an integrated wound management system for use in acute, extended and home care settings. It is intended to create an environment that promotes wound healing by secondary or tertiary (delayed primary) intention by preparing the wound bed for closure, reducing edema, promoting granulation tissue formation and perfusion, and by removing exudate and infectious material. It is indicated for patients with chronic, acute, traumatic, subacute and dehisced wounds, partial-thickness burns, ulcers (such as diabetic, venous insufficiency or pressure), flaps and grafts.

When used on closed surgical incisions, it is intended to manage the environment of surgical incisions that continue to drain following sutured or staple closure by maintaining a closed environment and removing exudates via the application of NPWT.

Note: Indications apply to the V.A.C.® Therapy System unit only and do not apply to iOn PROGRESS™ Remote Therapy Monitoring.

Evidence & Outcomes

The V.A.C.® Therapy unit has the largest body of evidence to date including over 11,000 peer-reviewed articles, 48 of which are randomized controlled trials (RCTs). These studies have demonstrated the positive clinical outcomes of NPWT, as well as the effectiveness of V.A.C.® Therapy in managing chronic wounds (e.g., pressure ulcers and lower extremity ulcers) and a variety of acute wounds. Some of these studies are listed below.

Note: The above does not apply to iOn PROGRESS™ Remote Therapy Monitoring, only to the V.A.C.® Therapy System.
